JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT PACKAGE

Whether you’re destined for greatness in the NICA and U23 scene, pursuing dominance in the world of draft legal and traditional triathlon, or coming up through the local road ranks, White Pine Athletics’ coaching staff is ready to help in your journey as a student athlete. No matter where you live, if you’re a Junior endurance-focused athlete, our program is designed with your specific needs in mind.


WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Our Junior Development program provides coaching for high school and collegiate athletes (under 23 years old) currently holding a race license with either NICA, USA Cycling, or USA Triathlon.

*Upon check-out, will be required to show proof of NICA membership/race license and current enrollment to high school or minimum of 9 college credit hours to be eligible for discount.


Guiding young athletes in their pursuit to becoming better, stronger, and faster than they were yesterday is a core focus for White Pine Athletics, but beyond that our mission is to provide science-based, race proven, and age-appropriate training to junior riders. Student athletes and junior riders have different needs than their adult athlete counterparts. From a physiological level to a scheduling level, junior athletes require subtle tweaks in training progression and a careful balance of training intensity that they may not be getting during a standard group coaching season or session. At White Pine Athletics, our Junior Development athletes receive carefully planned sessions delivered weekly by their coach via TrainingPeaks software that is built to specifically target an athletes weaknesses, build upon existing strengths, and to prepare you both mentally and physically for the rigors of racing.

Our unique mobility and fitness assessment will help your coach pinpoint these areas and also determine sites of potential injury before they develop.  Your coach will review your assessment and goals with you during your initial phone consultation.

From team fees, race fees, and bikes/equipment, to the cost of travel and feeding a junior athlete, we understand that racing is expensive. That’s why we offer junior racers and their families a discount on White Pine Athletics Coaching. Our Junior Development Package builds in a significant discount from the WPA Endurance Package, while parents of a Junior Development rider can receive a 20% discount from our Endurance Package while their junior is enrolled in our program. Tidbits for success:

In order to get the most out of your weekly programming, we require that all athletes have a heart rate monitor and bike computer - this gives your coach ride data to analyze and optimize your training program. It is recommended that Junior Development Riders have access to a power-based bike trainer. We at WPA are big fans of the Wahoo KICKR, or KICKR CORE, or KICKR Snap. If needed, these trainers are able to accommodate boost spacing and 1 x 12 drivetrains which are becoming standard on modern mountain bikes. *Validate your model ahead of purchase, but we’ve had great luck.
